I think you did a fantastic job turning a tractor into a functional work of art. As far as weakening the belly casting by smoothing the surface, I think you can rest assured that that over-engineered piece of cast iron could have perhaps 20% of its mass whittled away and it would still be more than capable of doing its job! No Fenders? No problem! Keep your hands on the wheel, your feet on the platform and your mind on the job. Fenders are nice and add an extra layer of safety for the operator, but there were thousands of tractors built without them before folks became convinced that they had to have them.....
